In this article, we will understand how it is counted, and what is considered as a visit to your site or blog.
Rock Stage's plans vary according to the number of monthly visits in each site or blog hosted.
The number of monthly visits is calculated by adding the number of daily visits in a month.
In this article, we will understand how it is counted, and what is considered as a visit to your site or blog.
What characterizes a visit
The number of daily visits is equal to the total number of single users who accessed the site in a 24-hour period.
In order for a visit to be considered on the daily and monthly sum, the user needs to remain on the site for at least 31 seconds.
It is also important to remember that, if a user accesses the site and click on a page, or open a post, for example, it is still counted as a single visit, as it is the same user navigating through the site. On the other hand, if a user accesses the same page on the site through two different navigators, they are counted as two different visits.
How we differentiate a new visit of the same person browsing between pages on my site
We explained that if the same user access different pages of my site, it is considered a single visit. But how do we know if it is the same user of the previous page, or a new person accessing the page?!
We differentiate the users by using the famous "Cookies", which are a little text file that your navigator keeps every time a new site is accessed, which is excluded periodically. Through the information from these cookies, we can separate new users from the same person navigating in different pages of the same site.
In short:
- if a person has accessed several different articles on the same blog, it is considered a single visit;
- if a person accesses the same page of a site through different navigators, they are counted as two different visits;
- if a person accesses your site today, and again after 10 days, they are counted as two different visits.
The total sum of visits in a month must be less than the limit of visits allowed in my plan, otherwise, a plan upgrade is required.
