Restrict or block IP address(es)

Ion platform gives you the ability to restrict certain IP addresses from visiting your pages or to block certain IP's from being included in your reports.

To restrict IP addresses, navigate to the global "Settings" menu in your console's side nav and click on the "IP Restrictions" menu item. To restrict or block an IP address, click on the "New restriction" button. IP addresses are added individually. The restriction options are:

  • Allow as crawler/bot: Visitors originating from the IP address can visit creatives but will not be tracked. The respondent (crawler/bot) will not be tracked in reporting or performance gauges.
  • Allow but auto-delete tracking hourly: Visitors can navigate through your pages as a real respondent would and will be included in any associated data export. Hourly, Ion will delete the data from the visitor. The first time Ion auto-deletes, ALL respondent data from the specified IP addresses will be deleted. NOTE: This setting is excellent for testing immediate exports but should not be leveraged to test scheduled exports. It's also a great way for traffic from your company to come to your pages unrestricted, but not be counted in your reports.
  • Block with 403 (forbidden) response: Visitors originating from the IP address will land on a 403 (forbidden) error page when attempting to visit creatives. 403 error messages indicate the page exists, but you are denied access to it. You might want to do this from a malicious site or a competitor.
  • Block with 404 (file not found) response: Visitors originating from the IP address will land on a 404 (file not found) error page when attempting to visit creatives. 404 error messages typically indicate a page has moved or does not exist. You might want to do this from a malicious site or a competitor.
