If you have your domain on Wix, you must follow all the steps in this article to correctly point your domain to the Rock Stage server.
First, you need to log in to your Wix platform. That done, click on the arrow next to your name in the upper right corner and select the option "Domains".
Next to the domain, you want to point to the Rock Stage server, click the, then select the option "Manage DNS registers".
In the DNS register manager, you will need to add a register. However, the register type may vary depending on your need. Check out what your options are.
Type A register
This register type indicated if you do not have a subdomain (any element that comes before your domain name) such as blog.username.net or www.username.net.
If this is the case, you only need to create a new register with your website domain, the Rock Stage IP number (Value), and the 1 hour TTL.
Here's how this new register should look:
- Host’s name: your domain (ex: mysite.com)
- Value: 151.139.128.10
- TTL: 1 hour
After completing the pointing with type A, you can delete the previous ones configured in Wix.
If you use subdomains, check below how to add a CNAME Register type as well.
CNAME type register
As we mentioned before, if your site has subdomains, it will be necessary to perform a CNAME register.
Here are some examples of subdomains:
- blog.mywebsite.com
- store.mywebsite.com
- www.mywebsite.com
- products.mywebsite.com
In other words, the subdomain is any element that appears before its domain and a period in a URL.
Remember that it is necessary to create a new CNAME register and point to the corresponding target (URL provided by Rock Stage) for each subdomain.
The Target, called in the WIX as value, is something unique and non-transferable. You can find this information directly on your Rock Stage platform, as follows:
On the main page, click on "Dashboard":
That done, in the left side menu, select "domains" and copy the information provided in the "settings" box:
Adding a CNAME register to Wix
Go back to the Wix platform, under "DNS register manager" click "add register" in the "CNAME register (Aliases)" option:
Fill in the blanks with the data provided by Rock Stage.
The Hostname must be your subdomain (.blog, www., or other) since Wix will already complete the rest of the URL with your domain.
Therefore, the data should look like this:
- Hostname: your subdomain
- Value (Targe): The URL provided on Rock Stage
- TTL: 1 hour (equivalent to 3600 seconds)
That is it!
You have pointed your subdomain, and the deadline for your URL to be working is up to 48 hours.
You can check if the pointing happened correctly using this online tool.
If the entry is correct, the Rock Stage IP number will appear when entering the URL information for your site:
Remember that if two IPs appear (like the one in the photo below), we recommend deleting the other IP register in your Wix Register manager to avoid instability.
